Let's get cooking...... 'lamb stew'

Dah lama sebenarnya nak letak resepi 'lamb stew' ni. Aku mmg hampeh bab2 measurement ni, selalu pon kalau org tanya, jwpan favourite aku, "err.. sesedap tangan jek" or "agak-agak jek". So this is my version of 'sesedap tangan aku' lamb stew. :P

1. Beli lamb shoulder or shank pastu potong dadu. Bhgn tulang tu xyah potong pon xpe. Gorengkan sekejap dalam sedikit minyak utk perangkan daging. Bila dah nmpk perang skit2, bole angkat dan letak tepi.





2. Dalam minyak yang sama, tumiskan 3 bawang besar yang dipotong 4, 2 ulas bawang putih yang diketuk, dan sedikit serbuk cili. Kalau ada dried herbs, mcm basil ke, bole masukkan jugak. Tumis smpi naik bau.




3. Then, masuk sayur (carrot, parsnip, kentang) yang dipotong in big chunks (sbb nk rebus lama takut kalau potong halus sgt sayur jd lembik). Kacau sebati.



4. Kemudian, masukkan balik daging yang telah digoreng tadi, dan masukkan 1 tin chopped tomato. Kalau ade worchester sauce, renjiskan skit. Kacau sebati.




5. Kemudian masukkan beef/lamb stock (aku short cut jek, pakai lamb/beef stock cube pastu bancuh dlm air panas), fresh rosemary dan bay leaf.



6. Give a quick stir pastu biar kejap atas api.



7. Kita nak lembutkan daging tu so it will take you another 3-4 hours kalau pakai dapur (I think). So what I did, cover periuk dgn aluminium foil n masukkan dlm oven. Cepat skit masak (dlm 1-1 1/2 jam). Bile daging dah lembut (yg ni kene check sendiri), keluarkan dari oven pastu bole masukkan garam dan kalau aku, brown sugar nk kasi balance skit rase die.


Memang lame nk masak stew ni, tp percayelah hasil die mmg berbaloi. Pastu bole panaskan byk kali mkn smpi esoknye. Sesuai dimkn dgn nasi panas, or roti.

I first heard this tune on Sky for Boardwalk Empire Sky Atlantic promo. I've always been a fan of instrumental tunes regardless of my lack of ability to play any musical instrument. I appreciate any kind of music as long as it doesn't burst my eardrums or make me puke. :P

Birthday choc cupcakes (with lemon buttercream & sugar balls)

For Mawaddah's 2nd birthday, we decided to bake her cupcakes. We don't usually celebrate birthdays, but we thought baking as a family was as much fun as any celebration.
